Learning and leadership: Personal picks from our VP of People & Culture
December 18, 2025

As someone passionate about personal and professional growth, I’m always exploring books, podcasts and other resources that challenge my thinking and offer practical tools for success.

Over time, certain works have stood out – some shaping how I approach leadership, some offering insights into human behaviour and others simply sparking new ideas. I wanted to share a few of my favourites across personal development, business and non-traditional media.

Personal development

One of my favourite reads is Think Again by Adam Grant, which offers a compelling look at open-mindedness and the continuous ability to learn. The book encourages readers to let go of outdated convictions, beliefs, and routines, something I believe is essential for ongoing growth and evolution. I find its lessons especially relevant today, amid the transformative impact of AI. Honestly, I love everything Adam Grant writes.

An honourable mention goes to Radical Candor by Kim Scott. We had the pleasure of hosting a workshop with an official Radical Candor facilitator at our company’s summer event, Moonrise. Her practical framework for giving feedback is both relatable and actionable. By framing feedback as an essential part of any healthy relationship, a principle I strongly agree with, individuals feel heard and collaboration becomes more effective. The result is a path forward that benefits everyone.

Business-related reads

Next on my list is Measure What Matters by John Doerr, which was recently recommended to me by our VP of Finance. This book outlines the goal-setting system known as OKRs and explains how it’s commonly used to track success within companies. It was a refreshing read, providing clear guidance on aligning a business around what truly matters and reminding that success in companies is often linked to getting the basics right.

Another standout is Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg. This book tackles global conversations around women’s empowerment in the workplace. I first read it early in my career and was surprised to uncover some unconscious limiting beliefs I held as a woman in business. Beyond helping me address them, it inspired me to encourage other women to recognise and overcome similar challenges, sparking meaningful conversations in my teams and network.

Non-traditional news

My final pick isn’t a book, but a podcast: All-In with Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, David Sacks, and David Friedberg. I’ve been a weekly listener for several years and particularly enjoy the hosts’ consecutive, in-depth discussions. Their take on world events, business and innovation – combined with a good dose of humor – offers perspectives that traditional media rarely provides. It’s both entertaining and thought-provoking.

These selections have inspired me and helped me navigate the human and business sides of work. I hope this selection encourages you to explore something new, rethink something familiar or dive deeper into your own development journey. If even one of these resources inspires a fresh thought or positive shift, then sharing them will have been worthwhile. Here’s to continuous learning, and to finding meaningful tools that help us evolve both personally and professionally.
